Fettuccine Alfredo

A classic Italian dish known for its creamy and indulgent sauce. Here's a popular recipe for Fettuccine Alfredo:

Ingredients:
- 12 ounces (340g) fettuccine pasta
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Fresh parsley or basil for garnish

Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.

2. In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

3. Pour in the heavy cream and stir continuously until it starts to simmer. Reduce the heat to low.

4. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese to the cream mixture, stirring constantly until the cheese has melted and the sauce has thickened.

5. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Keep in mind that Parmesan cheese is naturally salty, so be cautious while adding salt.

6. Add the cooked fettuccine pasta to the sauce and toss until the pasta is evenly coated.

7. Remove the skillet from the heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.

8. Serve the Fettuccine Alfredo immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil if desired.

Note: If the sauce seems too thick, you can add a little pasta cooking water to loosen it up. Additionally, feel free to customize the recipe by adding cooked chicken, shrimp, or vegetables to the dish.

Remember that Fettuccine Alfredo is a rich and indulgent dish, so enjoy it in moderation.
