Lasagna Bolognese is a classic Italian dish loved by many. While different people may have different preferences, here's a delicious and popular recipe for a traditional meat lasagna:
Ingredients:- 12 lasagna sheets
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 pound (450g) Italian sausage, casing removed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
3. In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onions are translucent. Make sure to break up the meat into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
4. Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste to the skillet, stirring well to combine. Season with salt, pepper, dried oregano, basil, and parsley. Simmer the sauce for about 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
5. In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, half of the Parmesan cheese, and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles on top, slightly overlapping them.
7. Spread a layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by another layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
8. Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the top.
9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.
10. Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
This recipe yields a hearty and flavorful lasagna. Feel free to adjust the ingredients or add other seasonings according to your taste preferences. Enjoy your homemade lasagna!
